Cedar Road To Close 1 Day For Historic Move

The New Lenox Train Depot move is finally set to happen.

NEW LENOX, IL - For the second time this summer, the relocation of the New Lenox Train Depot is finally set to happen. On Wednesday, August 15, crews plan to move the train depot out of New Lenox and to Konow's Farm in Homer Glen. Cedar Road north of Route 30 will be closed for several hours on Wednesday to accommodate the building's relocation, New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann told Patch on Sunday evening.

The depot was originally set to be moved in early July, but the event got delayed at the last minute when it became evident that ComEd had not notified all of the area's utility customers. A number of people, mostly along Cedar Road, will be negatively impacted by the loss of electricity for several hours. ComEd crews will have to cut power in the area to make way for the move.

This time, the surrounding homes and businesses have been notified, the mayor said.
