College Credits: Dean's List Honorees, Gymnast Earns Spot On Team

Area students are doing amazing things at colleges and universities across the United States.

Students from area towns like New Lenox, Lockport and Homer Glen recently made Dean's List for the fall semester, and one student earned a spot on the gymnastics team at UW-Whitewater.

Miriam Gorecki Named to Southeast's Fall 2020 President's List

Miriam Gorecki of New Lenox has been named to the Southeast Missouri State University President's List for academic achievement during the fall 2020 semester.

Students named to the list earned a 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, completed at least 12 hours of standard graded credit, achieved no grade below an A and received no failing grades in enrolled, credit/no credit or pass/fail courses.

Homer Glen's Olinger Earns Spot on 2021 UW-Whitewater Gymnastics Team

Vanessa Olinger, of Homer Glen, and a graduate of Lockport Township High School, will compete for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team during the 2021 season.

Olinger, a senior at UW-Whitewater, is majoring in communication.

Olinger competed on balance beam and floor exercise in 2020, tallying season average scores of 9.020 and 9.484, respectively. She competed in both events at the conference/regional meet, tying for 13th on beam and for 18th on floor.

Abi Schliffka of New Lenox named to Harding University Dean's list

Abi Schliffka, a sophomore middle level English, language and social science education major, is among more than 1,200 Harding University students included on the dean's list for grades achieved during the fall 2020 semester.

To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes.

Harding University is a private Christian, liberal arts university located in Searcy, Arkansas.
