Do You Know This Car? Police Seek Driver in Hit and Run with Deputy

The Will County Sheriff's Office has released photos of the offending vehicle in hopes that someone will recognize it.

JOLIET TOWNSHIP, IL — The Will County Sheriff’s Office is looking for information on a vehicle that caused a Will County deputy to crash into at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night.

The deputy was on his way to a call when a dark/silverish-colored SUV pulled out into his lane and came to a stop in the roadway, WCSO spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said. In an attempt to avoid the vehicle, the deputy swerved and lost control, leaving the roadway. The vehicle then T-boned a tree on the passenger side of the squad car.

The deputy was unconscious as a result of the crash and had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital and placed into “a medically-induced unconsciousness” until further testing could be done, Hoffmeyer said.
