Dog Training Facility Approved In New Lenox

The Board approved a special use permit for All About the K-9, at 1921 Ferro Drive, in New Lenox.

NEW LENOX, IL — A new dog training facility will soon be open in New Lenox. The New Lenox Village Board approved a special use permit for All About the K-9, at 1921 Ferro Drive, in New Lenox.

The business will be located in a 1,350-square-foot space within a multi-tenant building in Ferro Industrial Park. A special use permit was needed as the property is zoned for I-1, limited industrial, Director of Community Development and Assistant Village Administrator Robin Ellis said.

The Village Board waived the first read of the ordinance and approved it at Monday's board meeting, since the lease for the business will be effective on June 1.

Owner Heather Tannura said she is very focused on rescue dogs, and offers $20 off for life if you rescued your dog.

"My goal is to keep dogs safe, out of shelters," she said.

Tannura is certified for training through the American Kennel Club, board documents state. She previously rented space at Francis Field for her training.

"I just love the dogs and hope that it can better our community," she said.

"It sounds like a great project," Mayor Tim Baldermann said.
