DUIs, Leaving The Scene: New Lenox Police Reports

The following information is from the New Lenox Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

July 27

• Michael Tischer, 52, of the 900 block of Cheyenne Lane, was charged with DUI-alcohol at 11:12 p.m. at Cedar Road and Lincoln Highway. According to reports, the officer on patrol saw Tischer's vehicle speeding. The officer conducted a traffic stop and learned Tischer was driving under the influence of alcohol

July 29

• Robert Frank, 36, of Lockport, was charged with retail theft at 12:26 p.m. at Target, 2370 E. Lincoln Highway. According to reports, Frank had stolen over $350 worth of merchandise from the store.
• Edith Cardenas, 19, of Joliet, was charged with retail theft at 6:28 p.m. at Walmart, 501 E. Lincoln Highway. According to reports, Cardenas stole over $175 worth of merchandise. The complainant told police that Cardenas had also stolen $500 worth of items from the store on July 24.

July 31

• Jose Barajas, 47, of the 800 block of Willowfield Road, was charged with domestic battery at 2:08 a.m. in the 800 block of Willowfield. According to reports, Barajas battered two people during an argument. Barajas also had an outstanding Will County warrant.

Aug. 1

• Larry Brown Jr., 22, of Tinley Park, was charged with DUI-alcohol and leaving the scene of a property damage accident at 9:12 p.m. at Shagbark Road and Heatherway Lane. According to reports, police met with a driver who was rear ended in traffic and gave a description of the offending vehicle. Police located the vehicle and met with Brown, and learned he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Aug. 2

• Andre Martinez, 27, of Manhattan, was charged with DUI-alcohol and transportation of open alcohol at 1:57 a.m. at Washington Street and Sonoma Road. According to reports, an officer was called to the area about a car that ran off of the road. The officer met with Martinez and learned he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
• Manuel Martinez-Guevara, 22, of Joliet, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, no valid driver's license and operating an uninsured vehicle at 4:03 p.m. at Lincoln Highway and I-80. According to reports, the officer met with the driver of the victim vehicle. The driver and occupants of the other vehicle had fled on foot after the crash. They were found a short time later, and met with Martinez-Guevara, who was the drive, and learned he did not have a driver's license. The driver of the victim vehicle was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
• Noel Luna Jr., 47, of the 700 block of Lake Road, was charged with domestic battery at 7:23 p.m. in the 700 block of Lake.
• A man pumped over $30 worth of gas and drove off without paying at Murphy Oil, 431 E. Lincoln Highway.
