A Jeep Wrangler was also stolen last week; the sixth stolen car in six months in New Lenox, according to police.
NEW LENOX, IL — Four car burglaries were reported over this past weekend in New Lenox, and an unlocked car was also stolen last week, according to New Lenox Police.
The Jeep Wrangler was the sixth stolen car in the past six months, Police Chief Louis Alessandrini said, adding that February was "relatively quiet" in terms of stolen cars and burglaries to motor vehicles.
A purse was also inside the stolen Jeep Wrangler, and the victim's credit cards were fraudulently used, police said. The car has not yet been found, and police continue to investigate.

The four burglaries to motor vehicles took place in subdivisions off of Laraway Road on Brogan Drive, Brandon Hill Road, Edgeview Drive, and Northern Lights Way, according to police. Stolen items included wallets, purses and credit cards. Alessandrini said there were no signs of forced entry to these vehicles.
Alessandrini encouraged residents to check that their car doors are locked at night, and asked that they remove all valuables from plain view, especially purses and garage door openers.
