On Tuesday, April 27th, Girl Scout Troop 75208 completed their Bronze Award project with the packing and wrapping of 35 birthday boxes to be donated to the New Lenox Food Pantry. In August of 2020, the troop voted on birthday boxes as their award project. The bronze award is the highest award a Girl Scout Junior (4th and 5th grade) can achieve. Since birthday's are a very special occasion, the troop decided they wanted to help make the day unique and memorable for a child in need.

Each girl selected 3 different themes to personalize their own boxes. Some of the chosen themes were superheroes, princesses, and sports. The girls spent many hours making homemade birthday hats, party poppers, place mats, garland and personalized birthday cards for the recipient. They also purchased candles, cake mix, frosting, table cloths, balloons, and party ware. The girls used donated cookies from their cookie sales to be included in the boxes as well.

Troop leader Dana Rains said "I'm so proud of the troop for their creativity, commitment, and enthusiasm for the project. It's been very exciting to see the girls grow over the years and become wonderful Girl Scouts that make a difference in our community"
