Lincoln-Way Central Softball Team Finishes As State Runner-Up

NEW LENOX, IL — The Lincoln-Way Central softball team finished as the runner-up in the Class 4A state championship. The district said the team finished the season 30-4.

The team lost 3-0 to Marist High School in the championship game on Thursday, according to the IHSA website. The team defeated Minooka 4-0 earlier that day to reach the championship game.

The state final tournament was contested Thursday at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria.

Lincoln-Way Central had earned a berth to the state finals tournament due to their performance at the Orland Park super-sectional on Monday. The team defeated St. Charles North, 5-4.
