New Lenox Approves Gas N' Wash Site Plan

NEW LENOX, IL — The site plan for a Gas N' Wash in New Lenox was approved at Monday's village board meeting. The annexation and rezoning of the gas station, at Route 30 and Walona Avenue, was approved in February.

Assistant Village Administrator and Community Development Director Robin Ellis said the demolition permit has already been issued for the site, which is the former location of the Walona Motel.

"Not much has changed since the concept plan was approved as part of the annexation agreement," Ellis said.

She said the applicant has proposed a monitoring well location in anticipation of a forthcoming monitoring well ordinance.

The concept plans have called for a gas station, convenience store, car wash, drive-up food window and sale of packaged alcoholic beverages, board documents state.

The board also approved a setting of surety for the gas station for $2,481,721.73 to assure completion of public improvements.
