NEW LENOX, IL – The New Lenox Fire Protection District is now collecting items for Toys for Tots. Area residents can drop off new, unwrapped toys at each of the four fire stations. Collection dates run through Dec. 2.

“We are happy to once again support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve with their Toys for Tots Program,” NLFPD’s Deputy Fire Chief, Dan Turner, said in a release. “This year the Toys for Tots program is seeing an increase in children needing support. We are hoping to be able to exceed the more than 500 toys we were able to collect last year for less fortunate children in our area with the help of our district’s residents.”

Due to the current pandemic, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves’ Toys for Tots has created a virtual toy drive this year for anyone who would prefer to donate toys without having to go to a store or donate toys at drop off locations. The website to donate and purchase toys is here.

“As we are all doing our best to stay healthy during these times, we are encouraging anyone
who would like to donate, but cannot do it in person, to go to the donation website,” said Turner.
