New Lenox Repairing Broken Water Main

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning.

NEW LENOX, IL - New Lenox Public Works crews said they hoped to have a broken water main fixed around supper time Tuesday. The water main, roughly 40 years old, broke between 9 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. near the Pizza King restaurant building west of Cedar Road. Village crews had issued a news bulletin over the weekend advising residents that South Cedar Road would be closed just north of 1st Avenue to Hickory Street to accommodate the installation of new water mains and values.

However, Tuesday's water main break was not related to that work, village officials told Patch. The water main break was "a freak" occurrence. As a result, public works crews closed down one west bound lane of traffic along Route 30 from Prairie to Pine so crews could fix the broken main.
