Age 93, of Shorewood, passed away Monday, March 23, 2020 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home surrounded by the love of her family. Barbara was born in Warrior, AL, the daughter of the late James and Josephine (Hill) Carr. She resided in Chicago since 1946 and was formerly of Alsip, living in Shorewood since 2017. She graduated from Warrior High School in Warrior, AL.

Barbara enjoyed needlepoint and loved western movies and country music.

She is survived by her two children, Roger O. (Elaine) Russell of New Lenox, and Brenda (William) Ward of Shorewood; four grandchildren, Anthony Russell, Gregory (Amy) Russell, Cheryl (Lee) Zeleny and William (Kathy Niemczura) Ward Jr.; ten great-grandchildren, Christina (Christopher) Esparza, Daniel, Ashley, Samantha, Riley, and Max Russell, Cameron and Jonathan Zeleny, Ally and Zoey Ward; three great-great grandchildren, Zoey and Ryan Esparza, Logan Russell; her sister, Melba Carr of Cleveland, AL and many nieces and nephews.

As it was Barbara’s request cremation rites have been accorded and she will rest with her late husband, Otis Russell, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
