Ott Takes Lead In New Lenox Park District Commissioner Election

After a retabulation of votes on Tuesday, Ott has 1,968 votes, and Thomson has 1,947 votes.

NEW LENOX, IL — Newcomer candidate Mark Ott Jr. has now taken the lead over incumbent Bill Thomson in the race for New Lenox Park District Commissioner, according to unofficial election results.

On April 6, election night unofficial results had Thomson beating Ott by just 3 votes. Now, after a retabulation of votes on Tuesday, Ott has 1,968 votes, and Thomson has 1,947 votes.

Election results are still not final, according to the county clerk's office. On April 20, provisional ballots and vote by mail ballots, postmarked by Election Day, but received after Election Day, will be counted. Election results will become official on April 27.

There are two open positions as commissioners for the park district. Ted Schulz, another incumbent candidate, is the other projected winner of the race.
