Beecher Man Charged After Homes Damaged By Bullets: Police

Officers talked to the man, and learned he had been firing rifles and handguns on his family's property.

NEW LENOX, IL — A Beecher man has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm after two homes had windows broken from stray bullets, according to New Lenox Police. Henry Oram, 27, was charged after the incident on Friday night in New Lenox.

At 8:45 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the 700 block of Sandpiper Drive after a report of shots fired, police said. When they arrived, they saw that two houses each had a window broken from stray bullets. No one in the homes was injured.

Police began to investigate and learned the shots had come from a farm near Illinois Highway and Gear Drive. According to police, officers talked to Oram, and learned he had been firing rifles and handguns on his family's property.

The evidence recovered from the homes with broken windows matched evidence found at the farm, police said.

Several firearms were recovered from the farm and Oram was taken into custody. According to jail records, Oram was released from custody on Saturday and his next court date was not yet posted.
