Pizza Restaurant Closes In New Lenox

NEW LENOX, IL - Pizza King has been around New Lenox since the 1970s, but its days in the village may be numbered. The pizzeria in the 100 block of West Maple Street announced last week it was "temporarily closed."

"As of Tuesday, August 7, Pizza King is TEMPORARILY CLOSED," the business announced on its website. "EXCITING BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY to carry on the 45-year tradition of the area's best pizza. Contact Tony at 847-722-1877.

On Sunday evening, Patch spoke with New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann about the news. He said he was aware of the temporary closure of Pizza King, but said he was not sure whether it will reopen.

"The original owners did an amazing hob. It was a great business. Obviously, it would be good to see the place filled," he said.

Wondering whether Pizza King might have an announcement about plans to reopen, New Lenox Patch called the restaurant phone number on Sunday evening. The phone just kept ringing and ringing.
