'Nosy' Neighbors Help Police Uncover Apparent Marijuana Grow Operation

NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox man is in custody after police raided a suspected marijuana grow house Thursday and seized more than 30 mature pot plants and several firearms.

Acting on tips from community members, police surveilled 414 Circlegate, accruing enough information to obtain a search warrant. A raid Thursday revealed an estimated 16 mature plants in the basement, and another 16 in a bedroom. Several more were not yet mature, said Deputy Chief Bob Pawlisz.

Police also found three long guns and two handguns.

Glenn Stroh, 52, was taken into custody. Charges have not yet been approved, but Pawlicz anticipates charges of possession of cannabis over a specified amount, unlawful production of cannabis, unlawful use of a weapon, and no valid FOID card.
