Railroad Crossing Construction Begins In New Lenox

Two railway crossings will be renewed over the next few weeks, causing detours in New Lenox.

NEW LENOX, IL — Construction will be performed on several railway crossings in New Lenox over the next few weeks. First, Gougar Road in New Lenox will be rerouted the week of July 22.

The village said Canadian National will be renewing the crossing on Gougar Road just south of Lincoln-Way West. The detour began July 22 and will continue until 6 p.m. July 26. Detour signs are posted with the detour utilizing Route 30, Briggs Street and Laraway Road.

Metra will also be working on the Vine Street crossing starting 6 a.m Wednesday, July 31, through 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2. The village said signs will be placed a week in advance of the closure.

The detour route includes Route 30 to Cedar Road to Francis Road back to Vine Street.
