Tucker's Doggie Delights Celebrates Namesake's 15th Birthday

NEW LENOX, IL — Tucker's Doggie Delights in New Lenox recently celebrated a special milestone. Tucker, the dog which Tucker's Doggie Delights is named for, celebrated his 15th birthday.
Tucker's Doggie Delights first opened in 2008 at 2011 Calistoga Drive in New Lenox. The store offers all-natural dog and cat treats and focuses on nutrition. It carries all varieties of treats, but does not make its own.
Owner Nicholas Janowski, who owns the business with his wife, Stacy, and father in-law Terry Richardson, said they opened the business after the dog food recall in 2007.

"Everyone was focusing on their dog after the scare, and we shifted our focus to nutrition and how we can bring that to everyone else," Janowski said. Janowski had previously worked in pet retail and his wife, Stacy, had worked at animal hospitals before they opened Tucker's Doggie Delights.
They quickly decided to name their business after Tucker, who is a Border Collie, Cattle Dog and possibly Shepherd mix.

"We knew what was out there, and we wanted to stay local," Janowski said of their choice to open in New Lenox. Both Stacy and Nicholas are New Lenox residents.
"It seemed to fit well," he said. "There isn't this focus of pet nutrition [like us] in the area."
The business will celebrate its 13th anniversary of opening in February.
Janowski said the business has stayed open throughout the pandemic, as it is considered an essential business. It did close back in May for remodeling, but continued to do online and curbside orders, and has since reopened.
Tucker's Doggie Delights is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
