Two Injured, One Critically in Semi vs. Car Crash

The crash occurred on Gougar Road Thursday morning.

Two people were injured Thursday when a car and semi truck collided on Gougar Road near Lincoln-Way West in New Lenox.

Sheriff’s deputies were called about 11:40 a.m. to the intersection of Gougar Road at Spencer for a passenger vehicle vs. a semi-truck accident, according to Will County Sheriff's Spokesperson Kathy Hoffmeyer. Deputies found a Chrysler vehicle in the intersection with extensive damage. The driver—a 57-year-old man—was transported to Silver Cross Hospital with severe injuries. He was then airlifted to Loyola Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver of the truck, a 60-year-old man, was also transported to Silver Cross with minor injuries.

Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the car might have suffered a stroke, however at this time it is unknown whether that was the cause of the accident or if it occurred after the accident.

The Will County Sheriff’s Traffic Division continues to investigate this incident. At this time no citations have been issued. The road remains closed as of 3 p.m.
