Child Porn Charges Filed Against New Lenox Man After Online Tip: Sheriff

NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox man has been charged with six counts of possession of child pornography after an online tip from the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children task force, the Will County Sheriff's Office said in a release.
Joseph Balding, 29, of the 1000 block of Shagbark Road, was taken into custody Thursday, and bond was set at $100,000.

According to the sheriff's office, detectives received the online tip in March about a person from New Lenox who was potentially sharing and uploading multiple images and videos of child pornography.
Detectives identified the individual as Balding, and he was brought in for questioning and made several statements implicating himself, the sheriff's office said. A search warrant of his home was then conducted on March 18, and several electronic devices were collected and forensically analyzed, according to the sheriff's office.

An arrest warrant was then secured. Balding was taken into custody Thursday, and released from jail the same day, according to the Will County jail log.
