$250,000 Winning Lottery Ticket Sold in Oak Lawn
The ticket was a $5 scratch-off that netted a south suburban man quarter of a million dollars.

A Palos Hills man is $250,000 richer after purchasing a $5 scratch-off lottery ticket at a gas station in Oak Lawn.
Nasir Abobakr, 52, scratched an Illinois Lottery $250,000 Tax Refund ticket and instantly won a top prize of a quarter of a million dollars.
“I am still in shock I won. This is much better than my income tax refund!” he said when he presented his winning ticket at the Lottery Prize Center in Chicago.

Abobakr was at a gas station when he saw the $250,000 Tax Refund ticket and decided to buy one. He was at home when he scratched it and discovered his win.
“When I realized I won, all I could think about was sharing this prize with my wife and children. It is a blessing for all of us.”

He also plans to take his family to visit Yemen, their native country. When asked what advice he would give to other lottery players, he said, “Take a chance with a new ticket.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Oak Lawn Shell, 5601 West 87th Street in Oak Lawn. The retailer received a bonus of $2,500, equal to one percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
