Driver Fends Off 2 Would-Be Carjackers In Oak Lawn
A driver thwarted an attempted carjacking in Oak Lawn by firing shots at two armed suspects, who fled in a white Dodge Charger.

OAK LAWN, IL — A driver was able to fend off two would-be carjackers by shooting at them during an attempted carjacking Wednesday afternoon in Oak Lawn, police said.
Around 3:30 p.m., two men armed with handguns tried to carjack the driver’s vehicle in the 6500 block of West 89th Place. Police said the driver was able to access a gun and fired eight shots at the men.
The men got into a black Jeep Cherokee driven by a third accomplice and fled the area. The Jeep was found abandoned in the 6200 block of West 90th Street. Police said the three got into a white, older model Dodge Charger driven by another accomplice. The Charger appeared to have damage below the doorsills of the rear passenger door.

It is unknown if any of the would-be carjackers suffered any gunshot wounds, police said. The driver was not injured.
