OAK LAWN, IL — Coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, which means there is even more reason to celebrate this Independence Day. July 4 is almost here, so it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you.

July 3

What: Oak Lawn Independence Day Parade

Where: 95th Street and Lacrosse Avenue, heading west on 95th to 55th Court.
When: 4 p.m. July 3

The Oak Lawn Arts And Events Commission is shaking things up this year by holding the parade a day earlier, and in the late afternoon. The community parade features local businesses, organizations, churches, youth sports teams and scout troops. Southpaw the Sox mascot, Those Funny Little People, the Giant Wheel and Medinah Flying Carpets.

What: Post-parade concert featuring South City Revival

Where: Oak Lawn Village Green, 9446 S. Raymond Ave., east of village hall.

When: Immediately after the parade (around 5:30-ish; IDOT wants 95th Street reopened by 6 p.m.)

After the parade, bring your blankets and lawn chairs and head to the village green for a post-parade concert featuring South City Revival. True to their South Side blue collar roots, South City Revival has gigged all over the Midwest. The band was voted Best Country/Western Entertainer of 2021 by Chicago Music Awards.

Smilin' Clyde's Hot Dogs and EL Chavis Taquiza taco cart will be providing concessions.

July 4

What: 4th of July Golf Scramble at Stony Creek Golf Course hosted by the Oak Lawn Park District.

Where: Stony Creek Golf Course, 5850 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn

When: Shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.

Sign up today for the annual 4th of July Four-Person Golf Scramble. Entry forms and fee must be received at Stony Creek by Thursday, July 1st. Fee is $50 per player and includes greens fee, cart, range balls, drink ticket, lunch, and prizes. Register at the pro-shop or call 708-857-2433.

What: 4th of July Fireworks

Where: Richards High School, 106th Street and Central Avenue.

When: 9:15 p.m.

This is an aerial show only, as the football stadium is undergoing construction, so watch the ‘works from alternate locations.
