Are You a Licensed EMT Interested in Becoming a Paramedic?
Advocate Christ Medical Center is starting up its 10-month course for EMTs interested in becoming paramedics. Classes start August 2021.
OAK LAWN, IL — Advocate Christ Medical Center’s EMS Academy, Oak Lawn, is accepting applications its 2021-2022 Paramedic Education Program. This program lasts for ten months beginning Aug. 16, 2021 and ends on May 16, 2022.
The class will meet from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday and Wednesday at the Advocate Christ EMS Academy, 5220 W. 105th St., Oak Lawn. There are occasional Friday classes from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in September and October. Some modules have sessions that meet on Monday/Wednesday from 2 p.m.-10 p.m. A class schedule is provided upon acceptance into the program.
Advocate Christ has an affiliation with Moraine Valley Community College. Students will be enrolled as an MVCC student and upon completion of the program will receive 35 transferable credits. These credits can be applied toward the MVCC associate allied health science degree.

The program is accredited by the Illinois Department of Public Health EMS Division, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs and the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions. Successful completion of the program allows graduates to be eligible for the National Registry of EMTs certification exam. Licensure as a paramedic depends on successful completion of this certification exam.
The tuition is $5,500 which includes class and lab fees, 2 uniform shirts, all books and access codes to all on-line assignments and safety goggles. Students must have a laptop/iPad and printer capability.

Applicants must provide all the required documentation attached to the application. Please note that all applicants must provide documentation of having received a COVID-19 vaccination. The application process includes a pre-entrance written and EMT practical exam. Details are provided in the application.
Applications can be found on Advocate Christ Medical Center EMT and scroll down to the application link. Completed applications are returned to the EMS Academy. The deadline for applications is July 1 by 4 p.m. There is a $50 cash application fee to be submitted with the application.
