The Shepard High School girls track coaches put together a contest for fun that ultimately ended up demonstrating the perseverance of their team.
The Astros defeated their coaches in a Run/Walk Mileage Challenge last week by a total of 115.9 miles to 103.5 miles.
“Next time we’ll give you coaches a mile head start and run backwards but the winner of this week’s mile challenge, coaches vs. track girls, is the track girls!” said freshmen Natalia Kiernia, who led the team in miles.

Unbothered, head coach Scot Rybarczyk retorted “with everything going on in the world the coaches felt it would be best to let the girls win this one."
"Just kidding, but this competition was good for everyone involved. We stayed connected, while getting fit and taking in some fresh air!" coach added.
