Bridgeview Restaurant Will Defy Indoor Dining Ban

Owners of the Branding Iron said they would remain open for their own survival and to allow employees to continue paying their bills.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL — As another indoor dining ban takes effect Wednesday in suburban Cook County after COVID-19 positivity rates spiked to over 8 percent, a Bridgeview restaurant announced on Facebook that it plans to defy the governor’s orders.

“As you know by now we are forced with yet another closure. We have followed all guidelines, regardless of the financial impact it’s having on our business and our staff’s livelihood. We have over 35 employees, many of whom live in or near Bridgeview and support families. After careful consideration, we have decided Branding Iron will be open for indoor dining.”

The restaurant, which offers a traditional barbecue and chophouse inspired menu, further stated that this was “not an easy decision to make, but one we are making out of survival and to help our staff pay their bills.”

Branding Iron’s Facebook followers were unanimous in their praise of the restaurant for ignoring the indoor dining ban and pledged their support by stopping by to dine in.

“God Bless. Glad to see some business stand up to Fred Flintstone and his BS. Close one type of business close them all.”
“Thank you for standing up the craziness of the Governor and looking out for your employees and business.”
“See you tomorrow for lunch.”

Gov. J.B. Prtizker warned restaurants and bars last week that any establishment caught ignoring the order will be shut down by Illinois State Police. Business and liquor licenses would also be suspended and that it would be a long process for reinstatement.

“We truly love and support the Bridgeview community, and hope you will be supportive of our decision.”

The restaurant will continue to offer carryout.
