Burglars Take $8K, Diamond Engagement Ring in Break-In: Cops
Oak Lawn police are investigating a break-in near where two ruse burglaries were reported last month, where jewelry and cash were stolen.

OAK LAWN, IL — Burglars busted into a home a block and stole several thousand dollars in cash and a diamond engagement ring, reports said. The break-in happened near where two ruse burglaries were reported last week.
Oak Lawn police went to the 6500 block of West 91st Place for a reported burglary. The homeowner told officers that he came home around 4:50 p.m. Feb. 18, when he had trouble opening his front door that had apparently been damaged. When the homeowner went into his house, he noticed the back door was opening.
As he walked through the house, various drawers and cabinets appeared rummaged through. He called 911. The homeowner told officers he left the house around 12:30 p.m. The only items hew knew to be missing were $8,850 in cash and some gold jewelry.

The burglars swiped two gold necklaces from the homeowner’s daughter’s room, valued at $400 and $250. One necklace was taken from a jewelry cabinet, the other off a desk shelf. The daughter was also missing her diamond engagement ring and a tennis bracelet with a combined value of $12,000.
Untouched were a computer and gaming system. The homeowner and his daughter have no idea who burglarized their house.
