Driver Tries To Lure Young Girl To Black Minivan: Police

The man asked the girl what school she went to, who then ran home and told her mother, police said.

OAK LAWN, IL — A man in a black minivan tried to lure a young girl after school on Tuesday, police said. Oak Lawn detectives are investigating and have increased their presence in the area north of 111th Street and east of Cicero Avenue, according to a flash message sent to Dist. 126 parents.

Between 3 and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, police said the man pulled alongside the girl near 109th Street and Kenton Avenue and asked her what school she went to. The girl ran home and told her mother, who called police.

The driver is white, in his late twenties, with a long beard and wearing a black sweatshirt. He was last seen traveling north on Kenton in the 10900 block.

Police have released an image of the suspicious vehicle and is asking anyone with information that may help identify the driver to call the Oak Lawn Police Department at 708-907-4051.
