Residents Elect New OL Library Board Trustees, Incumbents Out

Challengers Kathleen McDermott and Kimberly Brightmore edge out incumbents in crowded Oak Lawn Library Board race.

OAK LAWN, IL — With all 41 of Oak Lawn's precincts counted, voters elected two new trustees in the Oak Lawn Library Board race, according to unofficial vote tallies.

Kathleen "Kate" McDermott led the pack winning 1,665 votes, with Kimberly Brightmore the second-leading vote-getter with 912 votes. The women edged out incumbents Roseann Spoto and Suzanne Marzano.

Included in the unofficial election day results in the April 6 election are early votes and votes that were cast in precincts on election day. Mail-in votes received during the early voting period are also figured into Tuesday’s totals. The Cook County Clerk has two weeks to count the mail-in ballots trickling in after election day, as long as they are postmarked by April 6, 2021.

Early voting in the April 6 consolidated election was higher than the past two consolidated elections in 2019 and 2017. Requests for mail-in ballots were also up.
