Manhunt in Alsip after Shots Fired at Cops on South Side

Shots fired around 2:30 a.m. Search for suspect continues as of 6:45 a.m.

ALSIP, IL — Two men are in custody early Thursday, and police are searching for a third, after shots fired at Chicago police on the South Side led officers on a chase into Alsip.

Shots were fired at patrol officers near West 118th Street and South Lowe Avenue in West Pullman around 2:30 a.m., ABC7 reports. No officers were wounded. Cops returned fire and pursued as the suspects fled in a silver sedan.

The suspects crashed the car near a school near West 119th Street and South Kostner Avenue in Alsip. Two were take into custody; one had been shot in the leg. The 22-year-old man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. He is reported as in stable condition.

Classes have been canceled Oct. 20 for all Alsip School District 126 as a precautionary measure. School will be open Friday, October 21.

Officers are searching for the third suspect near West 118th Street and South Lawler Avenue.
