Oak Lawn Man Shot Dead at Gas Station

The father of four was shot early Thursday morning during an argument in the parking lot of the Chicago gas station where he worked.

Chicago, IL — An Oak Lawn man and father of four was shot to death at a Chicago gas station overnight.

Marwan Mahmoud Sadeq, 45, was heard arguing with another man in the gas station parking lot in the 6600 block of South State Street, reports WGN News, when shots were fired at about 12:40 a.m. Thursday.

Two people inside the gas station saw Sadeq, who is a clerk at the Citgo station, trying to get back inside the station when he died.

Sadeq was shot more than once, including a shot in the head, reports the Chicago Sun-Times, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A customer told Daniel Brown, reporting for the Chicago Sun-Times, he heard three shots and saw Sadeq “trying to run in the door, but he couldn’t open the door and he just collapsed right there where he’s at.”

WGN reports that Sadeq, a native of Yemen, moved to Oak Lawn from New York with his family to seek a better life.
