Oak Lawn Teens Invited To Showcase Their Skills In Music Showcase
The Oak Lawn Arts and Events Commission is accepting entries from teens ages 13 to 19 to perform in the first teen musical showcase.
OAK LAWN, IL — The Oak Lawn Arts and Events Commission is now accepting submissions for the inaugural teen talent showcase, spotlighting the musically gifted teens from Oak Lawn. The teen talent showcase is set for July 11, part of the 2021 Sunday Concert Series on the village green.
The commission is retiring Fall On The Green’s teen battle of the bands to give more Oak Lawn youth ages 13-19 a shot to perform on a stage in front of a live audience.
“We wanted to eliminate the competition aspect and give kids a chance to perform on stage with no pressure,” Gincy Hartin said, arts and events commissioner and teen showcase coordinator. That’s the point, to give them to have the opportunity to perform and be an encouragement …

This showcase is open to youth ages 13 to 19 who are residents of Oak Lawn or who attend a middle school or high school in Oak Lawn. Musical acts of all types will be considered, including:
- Vocalists - soloists, duets, trios and groups/ensembles (live instrumental accompaniment or prerecorded music)
- Bands (all band members must be ages 13 to 19)
- Instrumentalists - soloists duets, trios and group/ensembles

Oak Lawn teens who would like to participate in the Teen Talent Showcase should fill out the application along with a brief video showing the performance. For acts that involve two or more people, only one application is required. The video may be sent as email attachment or a web link included in the application to Gincy Hartin at ghartin@yahoo.com. The arts and events commission will review the entries and teen performers will be notified if they win a slot.
