Patch's 2020 Guide To Chicagoland's Best Halloween Yard Haunts
Patch's annual guide to the coolest and scariest Halloween residential displays in the Chicago area.

Patch received an overwhelming number of submissions for the scary yard tour we had to put together a second list, and don’t be surprised if there is a third list. Our TENTH annual scary yard tour still has your favorite zombie graveyards, body parts, floating ghosts and devil’s playgrounds. Some of us may not be able to go trick-or-treating, we can still have fun driving around looking at the best Halloween yard haunts in Chicagoland.
>>> WAIT! THERE'S MORE: Patch 2020 Guide To Chicagoland's Best Halloween Yards - PART 2
We've UPDATED our guide for 2020 with displays that are bound to elicit a few 911 calls or set off some pacemakers when a pneumatic-controlled Freddy Krueger lunges at you from the bushes. A few simple rules to keep in mind first:

GET ON THE LIST: Patch's is a friendly list. We LOVE reader submissions, so we'll be updating the list every FRIDAY leading up to Halloween. So tell us why your yard haunt is special and send your pictures to lorraine.swanson@patch.com. (Read more about getting on the list.)
DON'T YELL AT US: We've done our best to contact homeowners whom we've featured in the past to verify that they're decorating in 2020. Some of you we're going to have to hunt down because you can't follow directions.

BE RESPECTFUL: Don’t yell, scream, honk your horn or litter. Please be respectful of people’s neighbors. We think 10 p.m. is a reasonable time to stop looking at houses on weeknights, and 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
COVID-19 RULES: Remember, there is still a pandemic out there. Some of our contributors have instilled COVID-19 rules. We strongly encourage wearing a face mask (or having one handy) and practicing social distancing. Bring hand sanitizer. Don’t argue with the hosts if they ask you to put on a PPE mask. If you don’t feel well -- stay home. #SaveHalloween2020.
COOK COUNTY
Alsip
LOCKWOOD CEMETERY, 12040 S. LOCKWOOD AVE., ALSIP — The 2019 third-place winner in Alsip’s annual Halloween decorating contest, Alex and Jim Evans go for the spooky, elegant look. Many of our decorations are handmade. The haunt is up. Lights go on as soon as the sun sets. Guests are free to walk the path and go up the driveway. But please stay on the path! And of course spooky distance as much as possible. Keep your mask handy in case there are other guests.

Burbank
6042 EL MORRO LANE, BURBANK — Dale Penn sent us photos of his son’s family’s haunt. Dale’s son made all the decorations himself. And we agree with Dale, the decorations look pretty awesome.

Walk or drive past "On Halloween we will have a tent at the end of the driveway with individually wrapped treats until 7pm. We ask visitors to respect social distancing and face covering guidelines. LaGrange Park
HAUNTED MANSION ON HOMESTEAD, 836 HOMESTEAD ROAD, La GRANGE PARK — "Creepies and crawlies, toads in a pond, let there be music from regions beyond!" And you know if Madame Leota is spinning the tunes with the ghoulish instruments in her séance room, those Silly Symphony Dancing Skeletons are going to show up and dance until they're dead on their feet... or is that while they're dead on their feet. Since COVID-19 shut down Disney World, Don Coglianese and his family decided to bring Disney to LaGrange Park. The Coglianese family spent the entire quarantine carefully crafting their own custom happy haunts from Disney’s Haunted Mansion. They plan to add to it every year until all 999 haunts are in their final resting place. All day, but best viewed after the sun goes down, 7-10 p.m. Viewable from the sidewalk and street.
