Santa Lands On Oak Lawn Village Green, Boosts Local Businesses
Oak Lawn celebrates the beginning of the holiday season Saturday, Nov. 30 with Santa On the Green and Small Business Saturday.
OAK LAWN, IL — Haul out the holly! The Village of Oak Lawn and the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce will create holiday magic together with a boost to local businesses. The annual Santa on the Green and Shop Oak Lawn extravaganza gets going from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30. The fun, family winter frolic is FREE.
Santa on the Green
The big four — Santa, Mrs. C, Frosty and Grinch — will be arriving at noon on an Oak Lawn fire truck, where they will hear children's wishes in the gazebo. Gingerbread and Christmas Eve the reindeer will be grazing nearby. Other featured activities include an ice carving demonstration, children's Ferris wheel, bounce house, inflatable snow globe and trackless choo choo train. Our tall friend the Elf stilt walker has also confirmed his appearance.
The Sward and Kolmar Elementary School choruses will be singing Christmas carols from noon to 1 p.m. inside a heated tent and other carolers. Barbershop quartet harmonizers Fermata D’Aria will be performing a capella holiday songs from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Village Green is located north of the Oak Lawn Public Library at 94th Street and Cook Avenue, Oak Lawn. We hope Dennis Kitching can make it to Santa on the Green this year.
Stamps and Totes
Warm up inside the Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Raymond Ave. (next to Santa on the Green) for Shops of Oak Lawn, children’s fingerprinting and a magic show at 1 and 2 p.m.

Collect stamps at the Oak Lawn Public Library, then redeem the stamps at Metra Station for a free tote bag, while supplies last.
The Shops of Oak Lawn vendor fair at the library features New Avon, Jewels2U, Scobey's Scampers, BEDS Plus, Complete Vision Care, Penny Lane Schools, Hilton Oak Lawn,St. Albert the Great Catholic School in Burbank, Mystopher Magic, Pops 24/7, JenCare Senior Medical Care, Calvary Church of Oak Lawn, AB Renovations, Chitown Photography, PLOWS, and Bethany Christian Services.
Trolley Rides
Free parking is available at the Metra Station (9525 S. Tulley Ave.). Trolleys (also free) will be embarking every 15 minutes between the Metra Station and Santa on the Green.
Kids' Activities, Food Vendors at the Metra Station
The fun continues at the Metra station, including face painting provided by the Children's Museum in Oak Lawn ($5 per child), live music and balloon twisters. Featured food vendors (for sale) include: Nothing Bundt Cakes and hot chocolate provided by the Oak Lawn Park District Ice Arena.
Featured business at the Metra Station, 5120 Museum Drive, include Nothing Bundt Cakes, Oak Lawn Park District, Fannie May, Chat-Tastic Balloons, and the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn. Shannon Baker and Mike Iwena on the accordion will provide live music.
