ScissorHands Totaled After Car Plows Through It, Salons Offer Help
A GoFundMe campaign has been started to help rebuild the business, as other area salons offer temporary space to ScissorHands stylists.

OAK LAWN, IL ? The owner of a popular hair salon in Oak Lawn says her business is totaled after a car crashed into it early Saturday evening.
According to fire and police officials, a Nissan Altima traveling southbound on Cicero Avenue pulled into the parking lot of a shopping center at 108th Street and Cicero. The car?s engine was on fire, and the driver lost control of the vehicle and plowed through ScissorHands, 10822 S. Cicero Ave.
Once inside the building, the vehicle set the business on fire. Oak Lawn firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the hair salon and prevent it from spreading. Other businesses in the shopping center sustained minor smoke damage.

?This is not the post any business ever wants to make, but unfortunately we?re forced to do so. We don?t know what happens next from here. A lot of it is out of our hands for now. Please stick with us as we try our hardest to rebuild as quickly as possible.?
Molony told Patch that her salon was a total loss.
?If the structure can be rebuilt, we will have to gut the inside and start from scratch,? Molony said.
Area hair salons have since reached out to Molony offering chairs and space where her stylists can continue serving ScissorHands' loyal cadre of clients while the salon gets back on its feet.
?I was sick about it all night,? said Cathy O?Hara, owner of O?Hara and Friends Salon in Palos Heights. ?I can?t take them all, but I?m glad to help. I?m hoping other salons open their doors to them as well.?
New Day Spa in Oak Lawn is also offering a temporary home to ScissorsHands stylists.
?We have room,? owner Laurie Harrington said.
The salon'a employees have also started a GoFundMe campaign to help their boss get the salon back up and running, and to help stylists replace their tools lost in the fire or rent chairs in other salons, so they can continue to make a living.
?ScissorHands is a business that?s been longstanding in Oak Lawn and is staffed by many friendly, compassionate professionals. We are a tight-knit family that cares about our clients,? said a statement on GoFundMe. ?We are very fortunate that no one was seriously hurt as a result of this incident. However, we need the communities help to get the salon back up and running in order to help our owner and fearless leader, Jayne, get Scissor Hands back up on its feet.?
