Second Free COVID-19 Testing Event Offered Friday At Yukich Park

Free drive-thru COVID-19 testing will be offered Friday, Dec. 11, on a first-come, first-served basis at Yukich Park in Evergreen Park.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Cook County Commissioners Stanley Moore (4th District) John P. Daley (11th District), along with Evergreen Park Mayor James Sexton are hosting another FREE community COVID-19 testing event this Friday, Dec. 11. The testing event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Yukich Park, 8900 S. Kedzie Ave., in the parking lot south of ALDI.

Free testing is being offered on a first come, first served to residents in Evergreen Park and surrounding communities to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

“It is our collective responsibility to do our part as a community in battling this pandemic,” Moore said in a news release. “Increased testing and following public health guidelines to wash our hands, wear masks, and stay six feet apart is important as Cook County continues to slow the spread of the virus while a vaccine is being approved by the federal government for distribution."

The Cook County Department of Public Health recommends testing for individuals with potential exposure to COVID-19 or returning from national or international travel. Testing will be done on a first-come and first-served basis. People are encouraged to not eat, drink, or smoke for at least 20 minutes before being tested.

“Testing is critical in our efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19” Daley said. “It's important to help treat, isolate, or hospitalize people who are infected in our community, and testing is also an important part of our county’s mitigation efforts.”
