Shepard girls tennis season in review

Doubles team wins third straight SSC championship!

Shepard High School asked coaches to share the highlights, personal achievements, and other points of pride for their teams. Here are coaches Kelly Myron and Jim Weber writing about the girls tennis program:

The beginning of the season started with such uncertainty, but fortunately we were able to have a very successful season with both levels ending with 4-1 records. We had many new tennis players and a solid number of freshmen join the team.

The girls' dedication impressed us the most. Knowing that they may never play in a match, they continued to practice and improve each day. Even when things were changing daily, these athletes never complained, they persevered. They were challenged to play quickly with no experience, or play different than what was comfortable to them.

Players switched to singles and doubles at a moment’s notice and did it with a smile, and a fierce competitive spirit. It was a pleasure to watch them develop as tennis athletes and as mature young ladies. And through it all they supported one another, the team and their coaches.
