Man Fatally Shot Outside Bridgeview SOS Facility Identified: Cops

Bridgeview police identify the man shot and killed outside the Secretary of State facility. Two people in custody.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL — A man shot and killed outside the Secretary of State facility in Bridgeview may have been targeted, police said. Two people are in custody.

Around 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a shots-fired call at the Secretary of State facility at 7368 W. 87th St. A man was found gravely injured with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead.

Police identified the man as 21-year-old Jawaun L. Davis. Police say he suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Information about the suspects was immediately developed. Bridgeview police along with other neighboring law enforcement agencies from Oak Lawn and Palos Hills pursued the two suspects. The pair abandoned their vehicle. They were taken into custody without incident near Roberts Road and 99th Street by Palos Hills police.

A witness told WGN Ch. 9 that he heard about seven to eight gunshots.

“I saw a gentleman or kid raise his right and I saw a black hand gun,” the man said.

Police believe the shooting was intentionally planned. No charges have been announced.
