OAK LAWN, IL — Santa will be landing on the village green this Saturday, Nov. 28, for his annual visit to Oak Lawn. The Jolly Old Elf will be enjoying social distant visits with youngsters from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the gazebo behind the library at 9446 S. Raymond Ave.

Santa On the Green will be considerably scaled back this year because of the pandemic, but members of the Oak Lawn Arts and Events Commission have several tricks up their elfin sleeves to make it fun for believers of all ages.

"It's important to keep as much normalcy as we can for kids," said Andrea Zumhagen, a mother of six and member of the arts and events commission. "This is something Oak Lawn has done for generations. We wanted to continue the tradition in a safe environment."

The yuletide celebration will be held entirely outdoors. Kids will play festive games while they wait in line to see Santa. His BFF Frosty should be strolling the green and the green will be all decked out for the holidays.

Santa will be taking socially distant pictures with children, so make sure those cell phone batteries are charged. Kids will be able to pick up a goodie bag after they tell the old man what they want for Christmas.
