Trick-Or-Treating Will Go Forward On Halloween In Oak Lawn

Halloween is NOT canceled in Oak Lawn. Trick-or-treating is a go on Saturday, Oct. 31.

OAK LAWN, IL —It has been the burning question on neighborhood social media and inquiries made to Patch, but there will be trick-or-treating in Oak Lawn on Halloween, which this year happens to fall on Saturday, Oct. 31. Trick-or-treating will take place from noon to 6 p.m.

There’s still a pandemic out there, and village officials are relying on residents’ common sense to make it safe for kids. For residents wishing to pass out candy, leave a porch light on, or put a sign on your door.

Vulnerable persons are encouraged not to feel pressured to participate in Halloween this year, and hang a “See you next year on Halloween” sign. Worth Township Youth Commission has some printable signs, and there are plenty of examples online.

Much can change in the next few weeks with state restrictions, although a blizzard didn’t seem to put a damper on trick-or-treating last year, but that’s the plan for now.
