Viewer Lets Voters Know How Long Wait Is At Early Voting Sites
Cook County real-time viewer lets voters how long wait times are at early voting sites other than those closest to their homes.

COOK COUNTY, IL — Early voting in the 2020 presidential election is shattering records around the country. If you find the lines queuing around the building at your early voting polling place daunting, the Cook County Clerk’s office is trying to make the process go faster for voters with a real-time Wait Time Viewer.
The viewer tracks all 53 early voting sites in suburban Cook County and lets voters know how long they’ll have to wait in line before getting into the polling place to vote. A worker at each early voting site sends update every 20 minutes to the clerk’s office. During early voting, residents can use any early voting site in their county.
Residents are reporting waiting in line anywhere from 90 minutes to over 3 hours at some early voting sites. A voter reported on neighborhood social media Wednesday afternoon that there were no lines at the Cook County Fifth District Municipal Courthouse, 10220 S. 76th Ave., Bridgeview, where 294 voters were served.
