Virtual Reality at St. Germaine Catholic School in Oak Lawn

St. Germaine Catholic School recently received a grant from Lila and Violet Zaranti Foundation.

St. Germaine Catholic School recently received a grant from Lila and Violet Zaranti Foundation. The grant allowed us to purchase a classroom set of VR (virtual reality googles) for our school technology program.

Virtual Reality and its “cousin” AR (augmented reality) allow students of all ages to visit places and ideas in three dimensions. Field trips to distant places and advanced science topics are easily
available. The growing list of resources include 'tours’ of Washington, DC, colonial Williamsburg, and even the Vatican. Science “expeditions” bring students into the world of atoms and molecules, human body systems and even the Brazilian rainforest. The potential for
engaging students in their world is almost unlimited.

The sixth graders this week “visited” the International Space Station!
