159th Street Resurfacing Begins Monday, Will Cover 5-Mile Stretch
Lane closures will slow traffic on 159th Street between 94th Avenue and Cicero from March until July.
ORLAND PARK, IL — Lane closures on a stretch of 159th Street that goes through Orland Park, Orland Hills, Tinley Park and Oak Forest are expected to begin on Monday, March 2. That's when the Illinois Department of Transportation plans to begin a resurfacing project on the thoroughfare between 94th Avenue in Orland Park and Cicero Avenue in Oak Forest.
The project isn't expected to be complete until July. It will include a complete resurfacing of the 5-mile stretch and the construction of new ADA compliant sidewalk ramps, according to a news release from IDOT.
Recent construction on 159th between 94th and Ridgeland included curb, gutter and sidewalk repair the release stated.

"Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment."
Busy intersections that could be affected include where 159th crosses with 94th, 80th Avenue, Harlem Avenue, Oak Park Avenue, Central Avenue and Cicero.
