Residents Safe, Home Uninhabitable After Garage Fire: Orland Fire
The fire happened in the 8900 block of Oakdale Court Wednesday.

ORLAND PARK, IL ? Residents escaped safely from a garage fire at an Orland Park home Wednesday afternoon.
The Orland Fire Protection District was called Wednesday just before 5 p.m. for multiple reports of a garage fire in the 8900 block of Oakdale Court.
First responders found heavy fire coming from the garage of a single family home. The fire had already extended from the garage and was spreading quickly into the second floor attic and bedroom.

Firefighters made a blitz attack to quickly bring the blaze under control, also extinguishing a fence on fire between the garage and a neighboring house, Orland Fire Protection District Spokesperson Ray Hanania said.

No residents were located inside the home, and were later found to have safely escaped through a rear door, Hanania said.

A full still alarm was called to provide additional manpower and equipment to the scene and to backfill Orland stations. There were no civilian injuries. One firefighter was treated and transported for heat exhaustion at a local hospital. The firefighter was later released.
The fire is under investigation by the Orland Fire District Origin and Cause Team. The home is currently uninhabitable. The occupants were looking to stay with relatives.
Other departments providing coverage and manpower were Palos, Tinley Park, Palos Heights, Lemont, North Palos, Homer, Mokena, and other area agencies.
