159th Street Widening Project Begins — Finally

The project that will take 159th from two to four lanes was supposed to be done in 2018. It looks like October now.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Wondering what happened to the road widening project at 159th Street? The one that was supposed to be complete in 2018? It's on again, and this time, it's looking like it will be finished by October.

WBBM reported that the state's project that is supposed to widen 159th Street between Ravinia Avenue in Orland Park to Gougar Road in Homer Glen had been stalled by design changes and wet weather. It's also going to cost more than the current $105 million-price tag. No one will know, however, until the state and contractor hash out costs.

In the meantime, look for IDOT workers to be on the roads. And buckle up for extended travel times until October.
