5 Things to Do in Orland Park this Week

Coming up this week:

  • The Orland Park Village Board meets at 7 p.m. Monday at at the Orland Park Village Center at 14700 Ravinia Ave. View the agenda. Committee meetings, including Development Services, Planning and Engineering, Parks & Recreation and Public Safety begins at 6 p.m.
  • Orland Hearing Aid Center offers free hearing screenings from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Orland Township at 14807 S Ravinia Ave. An appointment is necessary. Call (708) 403-4222. Hearing screenings are also open to non-residents for a $10 fee.
  • "Forgotten Soldiers: The Dregs of War" will be presented at the Orland Park Public Library at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Topics covered include unsanitary conditions and disease, medical care, deliberate atrocities against black troops and more. This exhibition was developed and produced by the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health with research assistance from the Historical Society of Washington, D.C.
  • The Sportsplex Family Health Fair is happening 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 23 at the Sportsplex at 11351 W. 159th St. Activities include: blood pressure screenings, cholesterol testing, nutrition counseling, free aerobics classes, injury screenings, flexibility testing, and more. Children can enjoy face painting, healthy snacks, balloons and the Dino Jump. Look for Sportsplex T-Rex to make an appearance as well.
  • Celebrate Earth Day at the Orland Park Village Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Activities include recycling and document shredding, police department drug take-back, demos and more. A "Clean the Park" event will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Meet at Civic Center parking lot at 14750 Ravinia Ave.
