Breast Cancer Survivor Annette Pupo's Note To Fellow Fighters

"I encourage those who have been diagnosed to keep the faith and know that you are not alone. You are strong and courageous."

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we asked Patch readers to share their breast cancer journeys on Patch. This is Annette Pupo's story:

Stage 1 ER positive breast cancer was my diagnosis in 2014. It was not palpable, only seen on the mammogram and not the ultrasound, therefore I had to have an MRI guided biopsy. I had a lumpectomy with clean margins and the cancer had not spread to my lymph nodes. I was so very thankful for that. After the surgery I started radiation and after 33 treatments I started a drug called Tamoxifen. I had to take it for five years and it is now almost five years later. I am so very thankful to God that I am here to share my journey.

Receiving a breast cancer diagnosis can be very scary. However, with a great team of doctors, wonderful family and friends it can be a time of faith, hope and healing.
