Culver's Employee Finds Klan Display at Work
Suspended manager trainee who made paper-cup-and-straw display of a Ku Klux Klan scene was allowed back to work until employees complained.
ORLAND PARK, IL — A black woman who worked at a Culver's location in Orland Park quit after a manager trainee left a racist display for her to see—and he was allowed back to work.
Diamond Williams told ABC7 that she arrived to work July 16 to find the depiction of a Ku Klux Klan scene—crafted from water cups and straws—on the counter near the cash register. It was created by her 18-year-old manager in training, Williams said, who retorted that it was meant as a joke.
But Williams wasn't amused. She reported him, and he was suspended for the act. He was back on the job this past weekend, so Williams felt compelled to quit.

"Treating everyone with dignity and respect has been at the heart of how Culver's operates. We do not tolerate acts of discrimination."
Ultimately, the employee was fired.
