Elderly Woman Burned, 2 Cops Injured in Orland Park House Fire
The woman suffered burns and smoke inhalation.

ORLAND PARK, IL — An elderly female Orland Park resident was critically injured and two police officers hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a house fire Monday afternoon in Orland Park.
The fire occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Primrose Court. An elderly resident called 911 stating there was a fire in the home and that she was unable to get out, Orland Fire Protection District spokesman Ray Hanania said in a press release.
Crews responding found the woman in a bedroom. She was pulled from the house and treatment began in the front yard. She was transported to Palos Hospital in critical condition with burns and smoke inhalation, and later transferred to Loyola.

The fire was confined to one bedroom and quickly extinguished, with smoke throughout the home.
Two Orland Park police officers were treated and transported to Palos Hospital for smoke inhalation after entering the smoke-filled home to locate the woman. The resident's dog was located by firefighters, removed in good condition, and is being cared for neighbors. There were smoke detectors alarming at the time of fire.

The fire originated in the occupied bedroom but the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Orland Fire was assisted on scene by Oak Forest, Tinley Park, and Palos Heights with several other area departments covering Orland stations during the fire.
