They were taken to a nearby hospital and later discharged after suffering what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.

“The offender’s vehicle was passing other traffic on westbound 143rd Street to catch up with the victim’s vehicle,” the news release stated. “Once the victim’s car stopped on westbound 143rd Street at the red light for Will-Cook Road, the offender’s vehicle pulled alongside the passenger side of the victim’s car. The offender fired multiple shots into the passenger side of the victim’s car. The victim’s front and rear passenger side doors sustained numerous bullet holes from the incident. The offender’s vehicle then fled northbound on Will-Cook Road.”
Per the release, Orland Park detectives identified the shooter’s vehicle as being a 2014 Ford Fusion.
“With this information, detectives were able to identify Taylor as one of the offenders in the shooting incident,” the release stated. “On Thursday, Jan. 28, at 3:30 p.m., Chicago police located the offender’s vehicle, which was unoccupied, in the rear alleyway of the 7700 block of St. Lawrence. The vehicle was later towed back to the Orland Park Police Department and processed by Cook County Evidence technicians.
“Orland Park investigators learned of the offender, Dareaun Taylor’s, location. Investigators, along with officers from the Chicago Police Department, located Taylor, and he was taken into custody without incident less than 48 hours after the shooting.”
The release stated that Taylor is “a convicted felon who is currently on parole for aggravated unlawful use of weapons.”
Orland Park Police Chief Joseph Mitchell, who spoke with Richard Free Press on Tuesday, Feb. 2, said investigators believe the shooting was a “targeted, isolated event.”
“It appears to be a targeted, isolated event between the victim and the offender who knew each other,” he said.
Mitchell also said the investigation is still active.
